The 144-foot traditional gulet, MARE NOSTRUM has been offering sailing holidays in the Eastern Mediterranean since her launch in 2008. As a dedicated charter yacht, her guest book is filled with the words of very satisfied guests, and it goes without saying that her popularity is testimony to the warmth of her all-Turkish crew of eight. MARE NOSTRUM was designed and built in Turkey specifically for private yacht charter with a strong schooner rig, which means that she will sail well when the winds are favourable. Every one of her guests enjoys the utter tranqulity of being aboard as she drifts quietly under sail, and they watch the passing scenery, soak up the sun and keep an eye out for pods of playful dolphins.

The yacht's interior, finished in rich mahogany and marble is resplendent with all the charm of yesteryear thanks to the artistry of local woodworkers and stonemasons. These elements really set off the interior and give guests a chance to completely unwind and feel at home.

During private boat charter MARE NOSTRUM accommodates a party of 12, although as many as 16 guests can dine around a beautiful inlaid al fresco dining table, situated amidships alongside the yachts main bar. This design makes for a pleasant "social hub” right in the centre of the yacht, where guests can gather for meals before going their separate ways to sunbathe, swim or read on the aft deck. Twelve guests are accommodated in 6 cabins, five with a double berth and one with twin singles. This layout has its advantages in that each of the five double cabins is of a comparable size.

The crew are core to the success of a charter. MARE NOSTRUM's crew have been with her for many years and have between them decades of experience in creating the perfect charter experience. The yacht’s chef, for one, was a restauranteur and has spent most of his life creating inspired dishes from locally-sourced produce; the result is fresh, hearty and healthy — superb!

The Charter Fee includes the charter of the yacht with all its equipment in working order, tools, stores, cleaning materials, basic consumable stores for engine-room, deck and cabins etc.; the crew's wages, food; the insurance of the yacht for marine risk and third party claims and the crew for employer's liability.

Advanced provisioning allowance (APA): the charterer is charged extra, at cost, for the charter expenses: fuel for the yacht, RIB or other tenders; food, soft drinks, wines, beers, spirits for the charterer, other consumable stores, berthing dues and other harbour charges away from the yacht's own berth, including pilotage fees and charges for water and electricity taken from the shore, laundry, telephone, fax or telex via radio or Inmarsat, as well as the hire costs of any special equipment placed on board at the request of the charterer. 25-40% APA is given to the yacht prior to the charter to allow the captain to buy fuel and provision the yacht as per the charterer's demands. At the end of the charter, the captain presents full accounts of all expenditure. The charterer is either refunded any money not used or asked to pay any additional costs not covered by the APA.
