Patmos is an island of great natural beauty, synonymous with Saint John, who, during his exile here during the years 96-98 AD, wrote 'The Apocalyse' while inhabiting a cave - now known as 'The Cave of the Apocalypse'. While sightseeing, it is impossible not to be impressed by the sight of Scala harbour, set in a large, well-sheltered bay and at the base of a mountain crowned by the 13th century monastery of St. John the Divine.
